Alimos Marina is the largest marina in Greece with over 1000 permanent mooring positions of charter yachts and the gate to hundrends of magnificent destinations!

It is located SW of Athens, approx. 12 km from the city centre, 8 km from Piraeus port and 30 km from Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.

Transportation means are easily accessible including, trams, buses and taxis. Alimos is the starting point of your sailing holidays!

Famous destinations

Epidavros (Palaia)

The port of “Archaic Epidavros” was also the ancient port of Epidavros. There are 2 beaches near the port surrounded by trees that come down almost in the sea. If you like you can drop anchor in the bay, instead of the dock. Palea Epidavros’ main attraction is the famous large EPIDAVROS ANCIENT THEATRE located nearby.

Watching a play in Epidavros Ancient Theatre is a unique experience and a total must for everyone. Bars, taverns and fish restaurants are sited exactly on the waterfront and spread in the small village, offering fresh meals, fish and cool drinks most of the time of the day.

Hydra

Is one of the most beautiful port villages in Greece. A picturesque harbor surrounded by cafes, restaurants and the village itself made of stone houses and villas that rise up the hills. Since cars are prohibited, all transportation is done by donkeys. The only beach available for swimming is the adjacent Mandraki bay. The Hydra port is quite crowded in the summer months.

Poros

Is a small island in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf, at a distance of approximately 26 nautical miles south of Alimos marina and separated from the Peloponese (mainland) by a 200m wide sea channel, with the town of Galatas across the strait. If you decide not to stay at the busy port, away from the crowded cafe’s and taverns, you can drop anchor at Rossiko (Russian) bay, or at Askeli depending on weather conditions.

Aegina

The always busy port of Aegina is the main harbor of the island serving both as a passenger and a commercial portal for the locals and the thousands of tourists visiting especially every summer but throughout the year as well. The island offers all kind of facilities and there are many bars, restaurants and taverns right at the waterfront. Nice anchorage and swimming places are Moni (small island opposite to Aegina at the South side), Marathonas, Akra, Pyrgos, Souvala and Aghia Marina.

Kea

Also known as Tzia, is the closest to Athens (Attiki mainland) island of Cyclades complex and the gateway to Aegean sea. Only 12 miles from Cape Sounio and 35 miles from marina Alimos. The fishing port of Vourkari can get very busy and crowded during the summer period but is considered quite picturesque and very popular.

Syros

Is a hilly island. The north is rugged and uninhabited in contrary to the south. Most of the people live in Ermoupolis also known as the capital of Cyclades island complex. Finikas is the most known port, a good shelter at the SW of Syros and a very nice village with taverns, bars and coffee shops. Other places worth visiting are Ermoupolis fishing harbor, Nissos Gaidaros and Ormos Varis.

Tinos

Is famous for the Church of Evaggelistria (Virgin Mary). In this church there is a miraculous icon of the Annunciation which thousands of Orthodox Christians come to pray on the 15th of August. Tinos is one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades where you can see fine exhibits of local architecture. Tinos is a green and fertile place, full of small valleys with agricultural production. You can moor at the Main harbor which offers good shelter but with strong southerly winds. Water and fuel are available at the quay. There is also good provisioning in town and at Panormos, a bay located on the NE side of Tinos which does provide some protection from the meltemi. There are two piers. One of them has depths ranging from 5-6 meters and the other has only 2 meters depth.

Mykonos

Is maybe the most famous island in the complex of Cyclades which is visited every year by thousands of tourists from around the globe. Lots of celebrities prefer this island so don’t be surprised if you see one next to you while swimming! White houses and buildings, churches, narrow paths and windmills are the trademarks of this island. You can moor either at Mykonos harbor, with all the facilities i.e. fuel, water, provisions as well as enjoy food at small taverns and fancy restaurants. Ornos is a bay at the South of Mykonos which provides good shelter from the meltemi.Several taverns offer local specialties to the visitors. Finally Aghia Anna bay also offers good selter from the meltemi and has nice sandy beaches around.

Santorini

Is among the 10 places one should visit in a lifetime! Its volcanic structure attracts thousands of people throughout the year. Although its geographical morphology does not allow safe mooring, you can stay at anchorage either at the buoy of Oia or Fira or stay in port at the new marina of Vlychada. Different colors and types of beaches, white, red, black, sandy, rocky with pebbles will definitely charm you along with the majestic sunsets in a summer evening.
